Softball Recap: Bishop Conaty-Loretto Has No Trouble Against Alhambra

Bishop Conaty-Loretto had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 11-8 to make it four. They blew past the Alhambra Moors 8-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jaslyn Sigaran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Angelique Aguillon, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Parra, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alhambra only posted an OBP of .138.

As for Alhambra, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Alhambra's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Toni Covarrubias, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Bishop Conaty-Loretto is taking a road trip to face off against Rio Hondo Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Alhambra, they will host Bell Gardens at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
