Soccer Game Preview: Coconut Creek vs. Deerfield Beach

Coconut Creek hasn't had much luck against Deerfield Beach recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Coconut Creek Cougars will be home for the holidays to greet the Deerfield Beach Bucks at 5:00 p.m. Coconut Creek's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Thursday, Coconut Creek and Coral Springs finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw.

Dieunardo Milord and Cehnari Brown scored both of Coconut Creek's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Deerfield Beach entered their tilt with Taravella on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 5-2 margin over the Trojans. The Bucks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

Deerfield Beach used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Taravella. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Alex Laguerre, Fabricio Pinheiro, and Mattheus F .Barbara. Pinheiro made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist and five steals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Deerfield Beach pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. With that draw, Coconut Creek's record moves to 8-2-2.

Coconut Creek suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Deerfield Beach in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Coconut Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
