Recap: Midfield Patriots vs. Haleyville Lions
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Midfield Patriots ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Haleyville by a score of 72-62. Given Midfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Haleyville is ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Armonie Franklin, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Aaron Adams-Martin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Midfield is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Haleyville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Midfield will head out on the road to square off against Montevallo at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Montevallo is on a three-game streak of home wins, Midfield a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Haleyville will take on Sulligent at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
