Softball Recap: Moorpark Finds Home Field Redemption Against Simi Valley

There's no place like home for Moorpark, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Simi Valley Pioneers 9-8. The Musketeers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pioneers on Monday, too.

Kiley Finnerty looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rylie Cregut and Ava McGowan did most of the damage at the plate: Cregut went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while McGowan went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Cregut has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nathalie Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Moorpark pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Simi Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7-1.

Moorpark didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-5 win against El Segundo on the 18th. As for Simi Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-7 victory against Sierra Canyon on the 15th.
