Recap: Combs Coyotes vs. Arizona College Prep Knights
The Combs Coyotes have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arizona College Prep. Combs lost against Arizona College Prep in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 59-50 score last time.
Combs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Johnathon Byaus, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The match was Byaus' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamren Dubose, who scored 12 points along with seven assists.
Combs' loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Arizona College Prep, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Combs is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Eastmark focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday. As for Arizona College Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poston Butte will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
