Football Recap: Righetti's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Righetti's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 31-21 victory over the San Luis Obispo Tigers. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 17-7 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Leading Righetti to victory were Nicholas Matautia and Daniel France. Matautia threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes, while France picked up 125 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. France's longest reception was for an incredible 78 yards.

San Luis Obispo's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zion Hegg, who rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores, and Andrew De La Motte, who picked up 85 receiving yards and one TD. The Tigers are 3-1 when Hegg posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

The victory snapped Righetti's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for San Luis Obispo, they moved to 4-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Righetti will welcome Atascadero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for San Luis Obispo, they will head out to take on Templeton at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 36.8 points per game this season.
