Volleyball Recap: Hononegah Comes Up Short

Hononegah entered their match against Guilford on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Indians fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-1 defeat back in September.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Hononegah sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 15-25, 25-19.

Lili Fox paced Hononegah's offense, picking up 11 kills. Fox got some help from Makayla Harbison and her 19 assists. Harbison was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Among those leading the charge was Zava Runyard, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last three matchups.

Hononegah's loss dropped their record down to 21-13. As for Guilford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.

Hononegah didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Freeport on the 23rd. As for Guilford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Harlem on the 23rd.
