Football Preview: Concord Bears vs. College Park Falcons
Concord and College Park are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Concord Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the College Park Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Concord is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 47-40 win over Berean Christian on Friday. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 27.9 points per game.
Concord can attribute much of their success to Juan Gonzalez, who threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and Chris Dunn, who rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Those 187 rushing yards gave Dunn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lopez, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for College Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They really took it to Benicia for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-7 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-0.
James Voorhies went supernova for College Park, throwing for 151 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in two rushing scores. Trent Lanza was another key player, picking up 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Concord pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for College Park, their record is now 2-7.
