Preview: Ledford Panthers vs. East Lincoln Mustangs
The Ledford Panthers will be playing at home against the East Lincoln Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Lincoln took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ledford, who comes in off a win.
Ledford stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 35-7 win over North Davidson. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ledford.
It was another big night for Alex Sanford, who rushed for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Sanford is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Ragland, who rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Another reason for the win was Ledford's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Meanwhile, East Lincoln unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 13-0 to North Lincoln. The low total for East Lincoln limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
Ledford's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for East Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Ledford has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 267.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Ledford might still be hurting after the 28-7 loss they got from East Lincoln in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Ledford have more luck at home instead of on the road?
