Volleyball Game Preview: Sweetwater Mustangs vs. Merkel Badgers

Sweetwater has gone a perfect 4-0 against Merkel recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Badgers at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Friday, Sweetwater didn't have quite enough to beat San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, Merkel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Wall, falling 3-0.

While Merkel was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Wall's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-9, 25-11.

Merkel's defeat dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Sweetwater, they now have a losing record of 17-18.

Sweetwater was able to grind out a solid victory over Merkel in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Badgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
