Basketball Recap: Fox Creek Skates Past Lakeside with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fox Creek). They blew past the Lakeside Panthers 98-57 on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Predators' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 38th in South Carolina, while the Panthers are ranked 283rd in Georgia).

Fox Creek had a senior duo take command as Jason Rogers went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and Chanze Allen shot 54% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rogers has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keori Atwell, who posted nine points and three steals.

Fox Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only posted seven.

Despite the loss, Lakeside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Andrew Cowart dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Cowart.

The victory made it two in a row for Fox Creek and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 89.0 points over those games. As for Lakeside, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Fox Creek will be home for the holidays to greet Hampton County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakeside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-53 loss against Grovetown on the 13th.
