Softball Recap: McKeel Academy Wildcats vs. Lake Region Thunder
McKeel Academy dropped their record down to 7-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Lake Region Thunder by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 back in February.

As for Lake Region, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.
On Lake Region's side, not much got past Makenna Meadows, who gave up just six hits and racked up 18 Ks to keep McKeel Academy off the board. Meadows has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lake Region saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailee Ellis, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy will square off against Frostproof at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Region, they will face off against Bartow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
