Basketball Game Preview: Hillsboro Tigers vs. Bangor Cardinals

Hillsboro is 1-9 against Bangor since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hillsboro Tigers face off against the Bangor Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bangor is hoping to do what Wonewoc-Center couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Hillsboro's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Hillsboro put the hurt on Wonewoc-Center with a sharp 57-31 win. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bangor). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Royall 90-34. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Panthers are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hillsboro pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Bangor, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Hillsboro lost to Bangor on the road by a decisive 51-36 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Hillsboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
