Soccer Game Preview: Pleasant Grove vs. Pittsburg

The Pleasant Grove Hawks will face off against the Pittsburg Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Grove has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Pittsburg will come in with five straight victories.

Things were looking good for Pleasant Grove after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Mount Vernon by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Pittsburg hadn't done well against Sulphur Springs recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Pittsburg who was credited with the win. Pittsburg got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Sulphur Springs' two. Ethan Santiago had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Pirates.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-2. As for Pittsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Everything went Pleasant Grove's way against Pittsburg in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Pleasant Grove made off with a 5-0 win. Does Pleasant Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pittsburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
