Football Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Skates Past Western with Ease

St. Thomas Aquinas won the last time they faced Western and things went their way on Friday too. The Raiders blew past the Wildcats 45-6. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Wildcats are ranked 69th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of St. Thomas Aquinas' victory came down to the chemistry between Mason Mallory and his top target Julius Jones. Mallory threw for 195 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes while Jones picked up 146 receiving yards and three scores. Kayin Liddie helped Mallory out on the ground, rushing for 65 yards and one touchdown.

The win (which was St. Thomas Aquinas' third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Western, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, St. Thomas Aquinas will head out on the road to square off against McArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Western, they will host Taravella at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Wildcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
