Softball Game Preview: Berkner Rams vs. Lake Highlands Wildcats

The Berkner Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Lake Highlands Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Berkner has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 14.

Berkner came up short against Richardson on Friday, falling 18-3.

Heidi Shehan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Delight Nwokocha also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lake Highlands duked it out with MacArthur on Friday. Lake Highlands fell just short of MacArthur by a score of 25-24.

Reagan Davies stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Grych, who got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Lake Highlands now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Berkner, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Berkner suffered a grim 22-1 defeat to Lake Highlands in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Berkner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
