Football Preview: Roane County Raiders vs. Scott Skyhawks

The Roane County Raiders will square off against the Scott Skyhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roane County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Scott likes a good challenge.

Roane County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ravenswood 48-0. The Raiders have beaten the Red Devils the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Devils has come to flipping the script.

Roane County found their leader in sophomore Javon Letourneau, who rushed for 164 yards and three scores on only ten carries, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Letourneau also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception. Koltyn Starcher was another key player, rushing for 91 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries.

Roane County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 404 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ravenswood only rushed for 99.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Roane County's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Garrett Brabham with two.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Scott's offense. They took a blow against Logan on Friday, falling 35-0. The Skyhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Roane County's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Scott, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Roane County took their win against Scott in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Skyhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
