Softball Recap: Glendale Nitros vs. Gabrielino Eagles
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Burroughs, Glendale was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They skirted past the Gabrielino Eagles 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Nitros have posted since March 10th.
Natalie Minkler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Jade Marquez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Glendale hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gabrielino struck out 11 times.
Glendale's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12-1. As for Gabrielino, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glendale will square off against Burbank at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Gabrielino, they will challenge El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
