Basketball Game Preview: Shaker Heights Red Raiders vs. Glenville Tarblooders

The Shaker Heights Red Raiders will take on the Glenville Tarblooders in a tournament on Sunday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Shaker Heights came up short against Cleveland Heights and fell 63-50. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Glenville's good fortune finally ran out last Saturday. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bedford.

The match pitted two dominant forwards against one another in Xavier Vickerstaff and Terrell Pollard. Pollard had a great game and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Vickerstaff was balling out in the loss, putting up 17 points and three steals.

Glenville's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Shaker Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Shaker Heights won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2023, slipping by Glenville 65-64. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Glenville's Dominic Scott, who posted 20 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.
