Basketball Recap: Odessa Comes Up Short

Odessa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Midland Bulldogs. The Bronchos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Odessa's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Midland, they moved to 10-17 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Odessa and Midland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Odessa (ranked 592nd) will meet Frenship (ranked 72nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Midland will challenge Permian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 704 places (869 vs. 165).
