Baseball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Heritage

Heritage had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Southern Wells on Thursday. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cameron Rauner made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Lucas Taylor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Landon Lybarger also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Heritage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Heritage pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Southern Wells, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Heritage will face off against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southern Wells, they will take on Shenandoah in a tournament on Saturday.
