            Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Ralston Valley Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            With a playoff win on the line, Fossil Ridge rose to the challenge  on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ralston Valley Mustangs, sneaking past  6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the SaberCats have posted  since April 1st.
 Brek Benedict looked comfortable as he  struck out six batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in six consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Tyler Kephart, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  double.  Jackson Martin was another key player,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with three  runs.
Fossil Ridge has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Ralston Valley, they dropped their record down to 10-13 with the  defeat, which was their fourth straight  on the road.
 Coming up, Fossil Ridge will face off against Arapahoe at 4:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  victory, something the SaberCats surely won't give up without a fight. Ralston Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
