League recap: D'Iberville tops Harrison Central to extend winning streak

6A Region 4 recap Oct. 9, 2012

D'Iberville extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 4 this week by beating Harrison Central, 14-10. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

The Red Rebels made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,658 from 4,064. The improvement came about via a 14-10 victory over Harrison Central last week.

Wes Windham and Wes Windham gave Ocean Springs a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Windham threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns, while Windham ran for 120 yards. Daven Blakely also contributed to the rushing game with 98 yards on the ground.

Scott Austin was the best wideout in the league this week as Biloxi fell to the Greyhounds. Austin racked up seven receptions for 96 yards. Jonathon Quarles helped Biloxi's passing attack out by catching two balls for 51 yards.

Ocean Springs' Windham and Ishmel Morrow have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Windham has thrown for 1361 yards this season, while Morrow has 47 catches for 692 yards. St. Martin's Tyler Polk leads the league in rushing yards with 543.

A big matchup in 6A Region 4 this week will be when the Yellowjackets take on the Indians. St. Martin is in second place, while Biloxi is in fifth place.
