Softball Game Preview: Blaine Borderites vs. Burlington-Edison Tigers

The Blaine Borderites will head out to challenge the Burlington-Edison Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blaine has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Blaine came up short against Mt. Baker on Saturday, falling 17-3. The Borderites have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Blaine saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shaylie Daniels, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Daniels' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Burlington-Edison entered their tilt with Lynden on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They had just enough and edged out the Lions 4-2.

Burlington-Edison pushed their record up to 8-6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Blaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything went Blaine's way against Burlington-Edison in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Blaine made off with a 6-0 victory. Will the Borderites repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
