Volleyball Recap: Valdosta Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Saturday. Valdosta fell 2-0 to Richmond Hill. The loss continues a trend for Valdosta in their meetings with Richmond Hill: they've now lost nine in a row.

Valdosta may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 21 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21.

Meg Woodward paced Valdosta's offense, picking up six kills. Woodward got some help from Souad Dennis and her 16 assists. Serenity Carter controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Richmond Hill was led to victory by Kylee Gilbert and Bryanna Da Silva. Gilbert had 12 digs and one assist, while Da Silva had 18 assists and four digs. Da Silva is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 16 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Valdosta's defeat dropped their record down to 19-16. As for Richmond Hill, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 35-2.

Valdosta wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Camden County on the 4th. As for Richmond Hill, they will face off against Lowndes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
