Basketball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Streetsboro Rockets

Field is 1-9 against Streetsboro since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Field Falcons will host the Streetsboro Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Field is returning to their home court after beating Cloverleaf on theirs, despite the fact Cloverleaf has dominated at home this season. Field pulled ahead with a 44-43 photo finish over Cloverleaf last Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Colts are ranked 116th).

Delilah Rahe continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in January. Maddie Jacobs was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Field smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Streetsboro came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 70-68 victory over the Orangemen.

Field pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Streetsboro, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Field ended up a good deal behind Streetsboro when the teams last played back in January, losing 62-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Streetsboro's Naomi Benson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Now that Field knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
