Volleyball Recap: Western's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Western entered their tilt with Miami Country Day on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Spartans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on Tuesday.

Paige Hill paced Western's offense, picking up ten kills. Hill got some help from Katherine Restrepo and her 14 assists. Finally, Natalee St Fleur kept Western's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Miami Country Day's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashley Geller, who had five digs and three aces, and Rachael Luis, who had 19 kills, eight digs, and two blocks. Luis is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season.

Western's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Miami Country Day, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Western will be playing in front of their home fans against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Miami Country Day, they will head out on the road to square off against Mourning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
