O'Connor and Desert Vista are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The O'Connor Eagles will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Desert Vista Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

O'Connor is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Pinnacle, who was ranked sixth at the time (O'Connor was ranked 19th). O'Connor fell 56-43 to Pinnacle on Friday.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista fought the good fight in their overtime game against Xavier College Prep on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators. The Thunder's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

O'Connor will need to focus on slowing down Trinity Jones, one of several Desert Vista players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Zaire 'Cherri' Hatter was another key player, putting up 12 points.

O'Connor's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 53.3 points. As for Desert Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

O'Connor suffered a grim 74-48 defeat to Desert Vista when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can O'Connor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
