Preview: Fairfield Indians vs. Middletown Middies

Fairfield is 8-2 against Middletown since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Fairfield Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Middletown Middies at 1:45 p.m. Fairfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Last Wednesday, Fairfield was fully in charge, breezing past Colerain 54-19 at home. With Fairfield ahead 47-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Fairfield relied on the efforts of Kimberlin Samples, who scored ten points along with two steals, and Myka Richardson, who scored ten points. Samples is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Hayes, who scored four points along with five assists and three steals.

Middletown has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past Edgewood with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 60-43. Middletown pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Edgewood cut but never quite recovered from.

Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Middletown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season.

Fairfield strolled past Middletown when the teams last played back in January by a score of 46-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
