Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Comes Up Short

Grace Christian had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Kodiak Bears, falling 15-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Grizzlies couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Kodiak, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Kodiak's part, Max Sanford was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Sanford a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Zeke Saltonstall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jonah Arndt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Grace Christian has already played their next matchup (against Houston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Kodiak, they will square off against Soldotna at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
