Basketball Recap: Monroe Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Monroe had won two straight home games and Janiyah Boyd did her part to make it three on Friday. The Monroe Redhawks came out on top against the West Stanly Colts by a score of 82-71 thanks in part to Boyd, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 53 points in addition to six boards and five assists. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Monroe's points.

Another player making a difference was Dezire Hailey, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. She has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last five times she's played.

Monroe has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for West Stanly, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.

Monroe will head out to face off against Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Stanly, they will square off against Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hills will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something West Stanly surely won't give up without a fight.
