Fans got a thrill when Christian Heffelman and Jeremy Maxwell connected against Newport Harbor. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in Sunset this season.

Marina moved up to 666 from 696 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings were able to move up by losing to Los Alamitos 54-7.

Heffelman was a passing and rushing force as Edison defeated the Sailors. He completed 3 passes for 89 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 110 yards.

Daylan Harmeyer put up the best numbers in passing as Marina fell to the Griffins. He finished with a total of 15 completions for 151 yards and 1 touchdown. Harmeyer's favorite target this week was Cooper Davies, who caught 3 passes for 59 yards.

5-foot-9 quarterback Harmeyer of George Pascoe's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,377. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dashawn Gordon. The Los Alamitos star has 45 catches for 648 yards.

Next week's game between the Vikings and Huntington Beach will feature an aerial matchup as Harmeyer tests his arm against Kai Ross's defensive ability.

At the moment, the Chargers are in third, while Los Alamitos is in second.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Edison takes on John Barnes' team. Dave White's team has allowed 99 points this season, while the Griffins have given up 77. The Chargers allowed 16 points last week as they topped Newport Harbor.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Fountain Valley beat the Oilers 19-14. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
