Culver Community hasn't had much luck against Caston recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Comets at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Culver Community put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They put the hurt on Elkhart Christian Academy with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Cavaliers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 18, 2024 (when they won 14-3).

Jonas McCuen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Albert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Kael Buschman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Caston waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 14-10 win over the Norsemen.
Like Culver Community, Caston also got a great game from a two-way player: Eli Holloway. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Holloway was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gavin Mollenkopf was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Logan Mollenkopf, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Caston's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Culver Community, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Culver Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Culver Community might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Caston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Cavaliers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
