League recap: Stagg tops Tokay to extend winning streak

Stagg extended the longest winning streak in Tri-City this week by beating Tokay, 33-16. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Delta Kings.

Wayne Brooks put up the best numbers through the air as Stagg beat the Tigers. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Brooks' favorite target this week was Andre Lindsey, who caught seven passes for 93 yards.

Carl Coleman was the best wideout in the league this week as McNair defeated Edison. Coleman tallied three receptions for 98 yards. Immanuel Valdivia helped McNair's passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.

Jonathan Stark was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 193 yards on 23 carries as the Eagles topped the Vikings. Edwin Woods also contributed to the rushing game with 63 yards on the ground.

Don Norton's team's Brooks and Lester Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Tri-City in both passing and receiving yards. Brooks has thrown for 2086 yards this season, while Williams, a 5-foot-5 receiver, has 31 catches for 830 yards. McNair's Stark leads the league in rushing yards with 1069.

Entering into this week's contest against Tokay, Cedrick Phillips is short just 160 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 17 touchdowns this year, Phillips has thrown for 1840 yards with five interceptions.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Delta Kings take on St. Mary's. As it stands, Stagg is in first, while the Rams are in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Delta Kings take on St. Mary's. Stagg has allowed 119 points this season, while Tony Franks' team has given up 128. The Delta Kings allowed 16 points last week as they beat Louis Franklin's team.

West made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,704 from 10,897. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-3 victory over the Wolfpack last week.
