Football Game Preview: St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins vs. Bethel Jaguars

For the first time this season, St. Patrick-St. Vincent will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to take on the Bethel Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent will be strutting in after a win while Bethel will be coming in after a defeat.

Two weeks ago, St. Patrick-St. Vincent had just enough and edged out De Anza 22-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Patrick-St. Vincent to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Santos, who rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Santos' longest rush was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Baron Laxa was in the mix too, providing St. Patrick-St. Vincent with two TDs.

Meanwhile, Bethel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-35 heartbreaker at the hands of Vallejo. The Jaguars were up 28-14 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Bethel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

St. Patrick-St. Vincent came up short against Bethel when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 36-31. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
