Baseball Game Preview: Bentley Phoenix vs. Making Waves Academy Marlins

The Bentley Phoenix are taking a road trip to face off against the Making Waves Academy Marlins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bentley will be strutting in after a win while Making Waves Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Bentley will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Richmond on Thursday. The Phoenix were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Oilers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Phoenix as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Bentley got a massive performance out of Miles Makie, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Makie is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Owen, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Bentley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .766. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Making Waves Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-3 to Ygnacio Valley.

Making Waves Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Bentley, their record is now 2-4.

Bentley might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Making Waves Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
