Softball Recap: Apex Cougars vs. New Bern Bears
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Panther Creek, Apex was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the New Bern Bears and snuck past 4-3. That's more bragging rights for Apex, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Alyssa Kaufman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anamie Whittlesey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last six games she's played.
