Basketball Preview: Seton Conquistadors vs. Fredericksburg Christian Eagles

Seton is 8-2 against the Eagles since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Seton Conquistadors will head out on the road to square off against the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Seton beat the Centurions 67-63. Given Seton's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Centurions are ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Fredericksburg Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Christchurch School by a score of 68-59.

Fredericksburg Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christan Smith, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carter Johnson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.

Seton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Seton beat the Eagles 68-58 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Does Seton have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
