Baseball Recap: Klein Cain's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Klein Cain won against Klein Forest last Friday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Hurricanes' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles an 11-0 shutout. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Hurricanes this season.

Jackson Fontenette made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Blaine Bullard was incredible, scoring a run and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Timothy Melvin, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Klein Cain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Klein Forest only posted an OBP of .217.

The win (which was Klein Cain's seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Klein Forest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-20-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Klein Cain and Klein Forest will both be playing Klein Collins the next time they take the field. The Hurricanes will head out to face the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Eagles will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
