Basketball Recap: Parkdale Panthers vs. Flowers Jaguars
Parkdale lost against Flowers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Parkdale Panthers took a hard 78-63 fall against the Flowers Jaguars. Parkdale's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Wilson, who went 7-for-17 en route to 24 points and five rebounds. Wilson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Alusine Mansaray was another key player, going 6-for-8 on his way to 17 points.
Even though they lost, Parkdale was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.
Flowers found their leader in sophomore Brandon Brooks, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrell Bowles, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Parkdale's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Flowers, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Looking ahead, Parkdale will square off against Suitland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Flowers, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars challenge the Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. DuVal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Flowers likes a good challenge.
