Softball Game Preview: Paraclete Spirits vs. Bishop Amat Lancers

The Paraclete Spirits will venture away from home to square off against the Bishop Amat Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Paraclete's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Bishop Amat's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Paraclete's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Burroughs. Considering the Spirits have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Bishop Amat entered their tilt with Claremont on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Wolfpack.

Lauren Sanchez tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bishop Amat let Kayla Johnson and Bianca Rojo run wild. Johnson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Rojo went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Paraclete and bumps their season record up to 15-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Bishop Amat, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Paraclete came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Amat in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spirits since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
