Softball Recap: Unaka Rangers vs. West Greene Buffaloes

In what's become a running theme this season, Unaka gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. Everything went their way against the West Greene Buffaloes as the Unaka Rangers made off with a 12-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Unaka as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Kimberly Proffitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Taylor Grindstaff was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base. Mollie Buckles was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

On West Greene's side, Hayley Arnold was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Unaka's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for West Greene, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
