Softball Game Preview: Paradise Valley Trojans vs. Verrado Vipers

The Paradise Valley Trojans will take on the Verrado Vipers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Paradise Valley has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Paradise Valley's offense. They lost 19-0 to Desert Edge on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Verrado never let their opponents score on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Tolleson. The win continues a trend for the Vipers in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Jill Ryan's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Faith Grabau was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Leanna Antillon was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Paradise Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Verrado, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Paradise Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Verrado struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Paradise Valley suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to Verrado in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
