A Season-Best Performance from Xavier Ward Leads Northfield over Denver North

On Thursday, Northfield got the W thanks in part to Xavier Ward playing the best football he has all season. Ward rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

Ward might have his next game, a home matchup with Aurora Central, circled on his calendar. Ward rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries the last time he and the Trojans duked it out back in August of 2023.

Northfield Gets a Boost from Chineth in 65-12 Win

Keeping Ward company is Zavious Chineth, a fellow Northfield player. He rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

On the year, Chineth has thrown 2 touchdowns while averaging 12.5 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 63.38 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 130.63 rushing yards.
