Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lake Park

Lake Park waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Saint Viator Lions by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Lancers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nathan Bergman looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lake Park is 7-3 when he allows at most two walks, but 12-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tommy Pruyn was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Max Alvarado was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Lake Park pushed their record up to 19-16 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Viator, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-17 record this season.

Lake Park and Saint Viator are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lancers will face off against St. Charles East at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saint Viator, they will challenge Elk Grove at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
