Baseball Recap: Providence Grove Comes Up Short

After flying high against Chatham Charter last Wednesday, Providence Grove came back down to earth. Providence Grove fell just short of the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Providence Grove saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Flinchum, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Providence Grove's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Grove will take on Surry Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Surry Central will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Providence Grove surely won't give up without a fight. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they will face off against Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
