Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Shafter Generals

Chavez is 8-2 against Shafter since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Chavez Titans will head out on the road to square off against the Shafter Generals at 6:30 p.m. Chavez knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Shafter likes a good challenge.

Chavez posted their biggest victory since November 14, 2023 on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 67-43 margin over Kennedy.

Meanwhile, the matchup between Shafter and Wasco on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Shafter blew past Wasco 73-46 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Shafter.

Shaun Maldonado was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Gonzalez, who scored 13 points.

Chavez is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. As for Shafter, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Chavez didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Shafter in their previous meeting on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 56-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chavez since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
