Baseball Game Preview: Liberty County Bulldogs vs. Sneads Pirates

The Liberty County Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Sneads Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Liberty County fell victim to Cottondale and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets.

Liberty County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bubba Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That hit marked the first that Davis got this season.

Meanwhile, Sneads was able to grind out a solid victory over Port St. Joe on Friday, taking the game 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Traivon Danzey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Sneads is undefeated when Danzey posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Loftus, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Aaron Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Liberty County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Sneads, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Liberty County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sneads struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Liberty County skirted past Sneads 3-1 when the teams last played on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
