Basketball Recap: Berea-Midpark Victorious

Avon typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Berea-Midpark proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Avon Eagles with a 58-54 victory. This was a revenge game for the Titans: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 45-42 defeat.

Despite the loss, Avon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alaina Pagan went 6 of 14 on her way to 21 points. Those 21 points gave Pagan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey Lammers, who went 5 for 10 en route to 10 points and eight boards.

Berea-Midpark's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Avon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.

Berea-Midpark and Avon should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Berea-Midpark will challenge North Ridgeville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday up 218 places (140 vs. 358). Similarly, Avon (ranked 105th) will meet Midview (ranked 484th) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
