Pleasant Grove has gone 5-0 against Monterey Trail recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pleasant Grove Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Monterey Trail Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pleasant Grove's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Cosumnes Oaks. Emma Buettner had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Eagles got from the refs.

Adalynn Alley was the driving force of Pleasant Grove's attack as she scored both of Pleasant Grove's goals, bringing her season total up to two goals.

Meanwhile, Monterey Trail hasn't lost a match since November 23rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Laguna Creek. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Cardinals are ranked 104th).

Monterey Trail has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-2-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those five matchups. As for Pleasant Grove, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Everything went Pleasant Grove's way against Monterey Trail in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, as Pleasant Grove made off with a 10-0 win. Will Pleasant Grove repeat their success, or does Monterey Trail have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
